Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can look forward to more innovative industrial developments from JTC Corporation. Outlining its plans for the future, JTC says the 16 projects it is working on are expected to add 800,000 square metres of multi-user space by 2017. JTC also expects industrial rents to continue to moderate in the coming years. JTC is the lead industrial infrastructure developer in Singapore. Mega Disasters Seconds From Disaster Hotel Collapse Singapore The collapse of the Hotel New World (Chinese: 新世界酒店倒塌事件; Malay: Runtuhnya Hotel New World ; Tamil: நியூ வர்ல்டு சம்பவம்) occurred on 15 March 1986, and was Singapore's deadliest civil disaster since the Spyros disaster of 12 October 1978. The six-storey building situated at the junction of Serangoon Road and Owen Road rapidly collapsed, trapping 50 people beneath the rubble. Making the point at the groundbreaking ceremony of the fifth joint industrial park in central Vietnam on Friday was Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The Vietnam-Singapore joint venture held a groundbreaking ceremony of integrated township and industrial park in the north-central province of Nghe An, the seventh project of its flagship Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP).
